Building a Growth Mindset!
The term ‘growth mindset’ refers to a way of thinking, learning and taking on challenges. A person with a growth mindset is open to constructive criticism, takes feedback and uses it, takes on new challenges, pushes themselves outside of their comfort zone and shows resilience and perseverance.
Studies show that it is people with a growth mindset (as opposed to a fixed mindset) who achieve in life, are successful in all they do and are happy. Of course, this is exactly what we want for all our children.

Growth Mindset in Foundation Phase
In the Foundation Phase we use Learning Powers to help us to develop a growth mindset and to support our learning. The Learning Powers help us to learn lots of new skills and strategies to improve our work and be confident learners.

Growth Mindset in KS2
In KS2 we continue to build our Learning Powers and we become like our Learning Heroes. All of the children and teachers in Key stage 2 worked together to create 4 different Heroes that have the Learning Powers learnt in Foundation Phase. These heroes are:
The children worked with an artist to design the Heroes and all had chance to vote for the Heroes names. If you visit the KS2 corridor you can see the painting of our Learning Heroes.
