We have enjoyed hearing all about everyone's exciting adventures over the Easter holidays.
Our new context for learning is 'Take me on a Journey.'
This is what we will be busy doing this term:
It has been so lovely to explore our outdoor area during the warmer weather. We have been discussing keeping safe in the sun. Please during adverse conditions apply sun tan lotion before entering school and remember a labelled sun hat.
You may have noticed that we have been developing the outdoor area. We have opened the area up and now share all areas with the Nursery children. The children have thoroughly enjoyed this and have participated in planting and digging.
Trip to Brecon Mountain
As part of our new context 'Take me on a Journey' we will be going on a steam train journey at Brecon Mountain Railway. The trip is May 9th, please return all permission slips and payments before this date.
Please remember if your child has a significant event in their life to complete a WOW slip for us to display and celebrate their achievements.
Dwech i gael hwyl yn y Dosbarth Derbyn!
We have had a wonderful few weeks in Reception Stars. We have all settled and we are getting used to all our new routines, playing and working together.
The children have been taking part in our RWInc sound program initial sounds. We have been exploring Role Play activities such as acting out bedtime routines, providing opportunities to ask questions and explore different ideas. The Reception children have also enjoyed creating Dream Jars, and recording our favourite dreams, using the ipads. We will be putting our dreams into our jars using QR codes. We also continue to participate in a variety of speaking and listening activities, as well as enjoying familiar stories and rhymes.
We have been hunting for numbers and learning to recognise numerals and order them to create a number line. The children have been discussing different times of the day and night and playing 'What's the Time Mr Wolf?'.
Self Help Skills
The children in Reception have quickly become used to the environment and using the toilets independently. The children are beginning to respond to our reminders about how we use toilet paper, flushing and washing and drying of hands. It would be appreciated if you would reinforce this at home. In addition it would help your child if you would help them learn to put on their own coats and do them up. We do recognise that some fastenings are tricky and will be there to offer our support.
In case of Accidents
Please help us by providing a named bag of spare clothes, which will be kept on your childs' peg. May we suggest this contains a vest, top, pants, joggers or leggings and socks.
Please help us celebrate your child's special events by completing and returning the Wow Slip. These do not need to be amazing feats just special to your child.
